New Hebrides

Inscription on the back of the photo: To my Darling wife with all my Love & kisses. Your Loving Babe. Glora, Lucine, Babe

My father had beautiful handwriting and a cool nickname, lol. This was probably taken in '43 or '44. He didn't talk much about the war, and all I got from the quick research I did on New Hebrides was that it was an important outpost in the battle for the South Pacific, Guadalcanal in particular. The battle for Guadalcanal, won by the Allies and considered the turning point in the war, was waged between August 1942 and February 1943. I'm sure my father went to New Hebrides after that battle, because my parents weren't married until late 1943. [Click To Enlarge]

Big Family!

At first I was going to say I've never seen these people before, but then I looked at this post, and now I'm not so sure. See any resemblance in the features? [Click To Enlarge]

1886

Inscription on the back of the photo says the kid was born in 1886, but it doesn't say when the photo was taken. The photo made me think of my maternal grandfather, who was born in 1882. Maybe they were buddies, lol. [Click To Enlarge]

Woman With Duck

She could be getting ready to break the duck's neck and have it for dinner, or it could be a pet. Check out her footwear. [Click To Enlarge]

Just Married

The groom must have taken the picture, because I see the bride sitting in the car. I wonder if this happy couple is still married ... [Click to Enlarge]

Off To War?

This guy is obviously a soldier during the Second World War ... coming or going, I don't know. No inscription on the photo. [Click To Enlarge]

Wedding Anniversary

I had an idea early last year to put together a Vintage Photo Site so I could share my collection of old photos, which actually didn't exist (it was a work in progress). Something distracted me, so I put the idea on the back burner.

Anyway, here's a photo of a couple celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Congratulations to them! I wonder how long they made it in the end.

I have no clue who they are ... if you recognize them, let me know. [Click To Enlarge]
