I had minor success - actually only finding four original photos and several copies of old photos. I was fortunate to come across Gail, though, whose Great Grandmother is pictured above. While Gail didn't have any photos to sell, she was kind enough to show me this picture and allow me to photograph it and share it with my visitors. Izzy's also had a lunch counter (soda fountain) where the wholesale florists, their employees, and quite a few of the neighborhood residents would go for coffee, breakfast, and lunch. This was probably taken in '43 or '44. He didn't talk much about the war, and all I got from the quick research I did on New Hebrides was that it was an important outpost in the battle for the South Pacific, Guadalcanal in particular. The battle for Guadalcanal, won by the Allies and considered the turning point in the war, was waged between August 1942 and February 1943. I'm sure my father went to New Hebrides after that battle, because my parents weren't married until late 1943.
